Rainbow Locks: Crazy Hair Color Ideas for Your Hair
Let’s start with a word of warning … if you are interviewing for professional office type jobs or work in a career where bright pink hair might cause issues in the workplace, it is probably best avoided. On the other hand, if you want your hair to be as vibrant as you are, and your workplace and the people around you are easygoing, then why not experiment with some crazy hair color ideas?
Another word of warning (Sorry!): Coloring your hair extensively can cause it damage such as breakages and dryness. Before you embark on hair coloring experiments, make sure you hair is in the best possible condition.
To do this, look at your general well-being – are you eating the right, nutritious foods? Are you drinking enough water to stay well hydrated? Are you getting enough good quality sleep? Are you active? Do you protect your hair from UV rays, heat and other avoidable pollutants?
Give your hair some TLC with a deep conditioning treatment and take a break from heat (such as hair dryers, straightening irons and curling tongs) for a while to ensure that it is as healthy and strong as possible to withstand some of the harsh chemicals and pigments in dyes.
So now that you are sure you won’t get sent home from work for your out-there hair color and you are sure your hair can withstand the dye, it is time to think about what color is best to try and whether you want a full head, dip dye, front section or streaks. Decisions, decisions!
Start off with a base color
The best base color before you add ‘fashion colors’ is a light shade (such as blonde or light brown) as dye will take to this better than if you have very dark hair. Some colors are high maintenance, such as red, and will fade quickly and require regular top ups, so be prepared for the ongoing costs involved.
More and more people are experimenting with daring and bold colors. They seem to be taking their lead from pop stars such as Rihanna and Katy Perry, who are chameleons when it comes to hair shades.
The best part about experimenting is keeping boredom away! The second best part is watching the jaws of those around you drop the first time they see it! The third is trying out lots of new colors in your wardrobe to match your new hair (perfect excuse for some retail therapy)!
